Te Kohuroa Community Restoration DayJoin Te Kohuroa Rewilding, Experiencing Marine Reserves and Wai Connection for a jam-packed day full of community conservation activities. Registration essential.

Through the day you can snorkel to harvest kina for kai from the restoration site to support kelp regrowth, join one of our guided river walks where we will introduce you to the residents of the awa and do fish and biodiversity counts, volunteer as a citizen scientist and collect kina data to help us understand the wellbeing of rocky reef or jump into the ocean for a guided snorkel to meet the colourful marine residents of Te Kohuroa.

Come join us as we help to restore Te Kohuroa’s/Matheson Bay’s kelp forest in partnership with Te Kohuroa Rewilding Initiative. Get hands on experience with community led marine conservation and learn about the importance of this beautiful marine environment. Whilst not in the water you can learn more aboutyour local marine and freshwater ecosystems through our citizen science activities, guided stream walks and info on our stalls. Safe fun for the whole whānau. Sea conditions permitting. Postponements via email, on website and facebook page.
